A New Year, A New Season—Same Unchanging Word
There’s something powerful about the new year. Fresh calendars, fresh goals, fresh energy. In golf, the winter gives our game a forced rest. Muscles recover. Swing thoughts quiet down., and maybe you forget some bad habits. When spring arrives and we tee it up again, our game feels different. Some rust shows up, sure—but often so does opportunity. Those persistent flaws from last season may have faded, and with intentional practice, something new can emerge.
That rhythm mirrors life. God invites us into seasons of renewal. “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!” (Isaiah 43:18–19). New hope. New focus. New energy. “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength” (Isaiah 40:31). A new year is a chance to reset our attitude, recommit to discipline, and grow with purpose—on the course and off.
But here’s the anchor: while our swing changes, circumstances change, and seasons change, God’s Word does not. “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever” (Isaiah 40:8). “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).
So bring the new energy. Embrace the fresh start. Put in the work. Just build on the foundation that never shifts. Build your game—and your life—on the unchanging Word of the One who deals in hope and peace!
